The three-hour workshop will include Joan’s best tips on how to generate interesting story ideas, form strong relationships with journalists, share interesting content using social media, and build a huge platform online.

Fiction and nonfiction authors will learn exactly what they need to do to become an expert in their topic and promote their expertise online and offline through events such as public speaking.

Joan will go in-depth and make recommendations on how to use traditional media, including daily and weekly newspapers, industry publications, business journals, consumer magazines and industry magazines.

She’ll explain how to get on the TV news, how to get on TV shows, tips to get booked on public radio, and how to use a free media directory so you don’t have to pay for an expensive media database.

Book marketing got easier with the wide variety of book review and book recommendation sites such as Goodreads.com. Goodreads, for example, has its own Author Marketing Program and encourages authors to use a variety of tools and features at the site to promote themselves and their books.

Need publicity for a book launch? Joan will bring plenty of tips. If there’s time, she’ll also do a few hot seats with lucky authors who need help brainstorming publicity ideas. She’ll call on audience members to help her.

Joan will also bring a giant Cheesehead hat to give away to one lucky winner. Be there! Let her know in the comments section if you’re coming. Register at http://slpa.memberlodge.com/event-1936777
